Spend Controls: Card Spending Limits

Card spending limits offer an easy way to control spending on your cards. There are 3 spending limits: transaction, daily, and weekly. Limits are unique to each card, are not required, and can always be updated.

To set or edit a spending limit:

1. Go to the cards page and select your card

2. Select "Edit Spend Limits"

3. Enter your desired limits and select "Save"

Transaction Limits: maximum amount that can be approved for any transaction

• Recommendation: set this slightly above your average tank cost for the vehicle associated with a card
• Tip: think of this as your “maximum fueling amount” needed

Daily + Weekly Limits: set in Pacific Time (PT).

• Daily: maximum amount that can be spent in a day, PT time
• Weekly: maximum amount that can be spent from Monday 12AM PT through Sunday 11:59PM PT

For AtoB Unlimited customers, we strongly recommend setting a transaction limit.

Question: How do I know if a transaction was declined due to a card spending limit?

The transaction decline reason will show as "Card spend limit exceeded", and you should receive a notification via email and/or text message. Easily update and increase the card spending limit if needed. Once updated, it will immediately affect future transaction attempts.

Question: Can I only set a daily or weekly limit and leave the others blank?

Yes. Card spending limits are optional, and you can choose to only set those that make most sense for your business.

Question: How do card spending limits impact fuel transactions for an AtoB Unlimited account?

When you swipe your card outside at the pump, we approve an amount based on your available wallet balance, and card spending limit, up to a maximum of $350. 

Need more than $350 to fuel your vehicle? Go inside the gas station and request an authorization for the higher amount, or swipe again at the pump after fueling for $350.

After we approve a fuel transaction, a hold for the approved amount will be withheld from your available Wallet balance, and the pending transaction will show on your transaction page. Once fueling is complete, the transaction will update to the final amount within a few minutes. If the full amount approved was not used, the difference will be released back into your Wallet balance.

If your vehicle requires less than $350 of fuel, we will only approve up to the transaction or daily limit you have set on your card.
